Thursday, January 24th, 2019 is all about winter sports. Early in the morning, the students of the third – to ninth school year meet with the adults of the PURA VIDA team at the train station in St. Gallen, in order to travel from there together by car to the valley station Wildhaus. After about an hour and a car ride marked by joyful anticipation, we organize ourselves into small groups, which – according to our needs – get together in ultra-fast to it-comfortably-taking carpools.
As soon as you take the chairlift to the middle station, it becomes clear: this should be a perfect skiing/snowboarding/sledding/hiking day! And that’s exactly how it happens: With light snowfall but good light and, above all, perfect piste conditions, the PURA VIDA troop enjoys an unforgettable winter day characterized by elegant, wobbly, daredevil and courageous turns in the powder snow of Toggenburg. Shoe tracks of our hiking troop can also be seen now and then. They tell the story of children and young people who, at the end of the day, climb into the car, tired but satisfied, and reflect on the adventures they have just experienced in an animated exchange with the person sitting next to them or in silence.
