As part of a mixed-age afternoon, students from 3rd through 10th grades were divided into different groups and given the task of building the most accurate replica of the Eiffel Tower possible out of various materials.
By means of skill, knowledge, luck, sportsmanship and handicraft skills, the groups tried to increase their initial entry fee (in the form of beans) at various posts. What was needed was good team spirit and an efficient strategy.
The fictitious “bean currency” was continuously invested in building materials such as cardboard, tape, paints and wires.
Finally, the architectural masterpieces were evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Similarity
- Height
- Stability
