“You can’t describe the value of yoga, you have to experience it.” In 7th-10th grade, students are offered yoga as part of the PURA VIDA afternoon, in addition to sports, the “Generations Project” and Cambridge preparation courses. «Yoga is a 3000 year old Indian teaching whose practice is said to bring about a harmonization of body, mind and spirit. According to this teaching, the body is fully functional only in unity. Also, the Sanskrit word “yoga” translates as unity and harmony.” The yoga group meets weekly in the self-designed yoga room and practices meditation and breathing techniques in addition to classical yoga sessions. “We meditate, stretch and relax. In yoga I can “switch off” well. It’s cool because we can just relax and not have to study anything.” (Norin Lanter / Student) “I like yoga a lot.” (Matthias Frei / Student) Yoga is not only good for the body, but also for the mind and soul. It strengthens the concentration, the sense of balance, helps against tension and also helps against stress – a good balance to the school day!
