Cleanup at Summerdays Festival Arbon

Pura Vida Privatschule St. Gallen - Projekttage

What’s the saying? Who cleans, removes nothing, but only distributes differently.

To counteract this claim and to increase our school budget a bit, we went to Arbon on 29.08.16 to help transform the grounds of the Summerdays Festival back into a beautiful, green waterfront.

Once we arrived at the site, we were immediately handed garbage bags for the “dirt” and gloves against the biggest corner. After that, we were instructed on what to “shred” and were given a few safety instructions, since the dismantling was still in full swing on the site. From then on, it was a matter of bending and stretching to remove the last bit of garbage from the site. To our surprise, however, the area was already quite clean and the cleanup became partly a real Sisyphean task, in which it was necessary to cull the last crown corks and cigarette butts from the lawn. Despite this not very exciting work, all students helped well and so we could even leave early in the end.

So in the end we killed three birds with one stone: the shredding took less time than planned, we earned some money and proved that cleaning is not just redistributing.
