This week was all about healthy eating. On Monday, the favorite dishes of the 3rd to 6th graders were dissected into their individual components and arranged in a huge food pyramid. Middle school students had to choose between apple slices and sweets as a welcome snack. Not so easy!
The topic was revisited in various lessons, for example by playing “shopkeeper,” drawing a healthy meal, or evaluating the “food journal.”
Throughout the week, the classes invited each other to healthy snacks, afternoon snacks, and lunches. Sometimes these meals were prepared and served together at school. Other times, the children voluntarily brought homemade healthy biscuits or freshly squeezed apple juice from home. We enjoyed being together in mixed-age groups almost daily. As a little highlight, “Tobi Früchte” from Egnach offered us two crates of apples, which lasted for a whole fortnight as snack apples.
Overall, it was a week with excellent, healthy food and joyful company!
