Project week “Sound absorber” November 2016

Pura Vida Privatschule St. Gallen - Projekttage
Who wants to see hardworking craftsmen? In the week of 21.11-25.11 the project room of the PURA VIDA school was transformed into a workshop with 11 “small” craftsmen, who dealt in particular with the topic of “sound and sound elimination”. Here they worked together, but in different production steps. So first the battens were sawed and screwed. At the next station, frames were built and filled with rock wool and then covered. In the joint work, 24 so-called sound absorbers could be built, which from now on decorate the 21 m2 side wall of the project room. During the project week, the students had the opportunity to gain an insight into craft activities and also to expand their knowledge horizons on a physical level. A visit to Technorama Winterthur was supportive and motivating. “When physics topics are linked to real-life situations, like eliminating the high frequency of sound in our project room, learning is automatic.” Of course, fun is not to be missed during such a project week. There was cooking together and during the breaks the music was turned up and danced. And why music is audible at all, that the students of the PURA VIDA week now also know after this week!
